Now in Oregon

Today we made our way to Cheryl's and Mikes. We spent the last two days at Lake Tahoe and Reno. Lake Tahoe is a beautiful place. We stopped and walked a trail. Took a few pictures. Then we drove off to Reno. Dump that is all I can say about the place. A lot of the building are closed or burned. I guess some of the bigger casino's took over the older ones. We stayed at Circus Circus for $40.00 which we though was a fair price. The room was very nice, and the place so large it took us quite a while to figure out where to park the car so we were close to the room. We moved it after we checked in and had to move it again right back where we started from. At least we got our exercise. There was a storm that night so we were not able to walk the streets. Just as well because we didn't feel comfortable. So now we are here visiting so I will pick this up later.
Hope all is well there.

Good bye California

We have finally left California but before we did we stopped at Fisherman's Wharf and Yosemite National Park.
First Fisherman's Wharf early in the morning. We beat the crowd. The weather was cool around 59. I asked a guy at the coffee shop if this was cool for this time of year and he said it is actually warm. We walked took pictures ate lunch and just hung around. It is a nice place there. Before we left the streets were full of people.
We then drove to Yosemite NP. We were able to enjoy the rim of the mountain something we both love to do.lol You just can't get from here to there without crossing a mountain or riding along the side. There was a little asphalt on the other side of the white line that was comforting. When we exited the park we couldn't see so there wasn't any thing to be nervous about.,right? We are safe and sound.
It was about 2 hours before dark when we arrived. We managed to get some good pictures. Yosemite is a beautiful park too. Thank God someone had the good sense to turn it into a park and leave is as it is. Once we exited the park it was dark and hilly. we drove a long way before we could find a place to stay in Carson City at about 11 pm. That is why I didn't post last night.
I need to remark on my very good friend Tommie. Her husband John suffered an abdominal aortic aneurysm on Saturday. Things were not looking good. I just found out today and called her. She said he is improving but is still in intensive care. He is not out of the woods yet. Please keep them in your prayers. If you don't know them they are very good people. If you do know them I am not telling you anything new. So tonight when you settle in for the night please say a prayer for them.
Thanks
Karen

Sequoia and CA-1

Yesterday we stayed in a very nice town called San Simeon. It was right across the street from the ocean. Seafood restaurant next door, people walking the streets window shopping and no internet. :(
Well, it had something but not enough to keep me connected.
We spent most of yesterday in Sequoia National Park. It was a bit of a drive until we finally found the massive trees. In fact there wasn't any sign of plant life for a long while. But once we reached the area we were very pleased. We had visited that park before when the boys were young. It has changed, or our memory of it has. We had to walk .4 miles down to the Sherman tree which is the largest on earth and .4 miles straight back up that hill. At that elevation the air is thin. I had to stop to catch my breath. Didn't feel so bad when I saw kids having to rest too. I think Gary could have make it up ok but he was kind enough to wait on me. The picture with Gary behind the sign is where we took the boys picture. We then drove to San Simeon.
Today we drove on CA-1 to San Francisco. It is suppose to be a real beautiful drive and it was. There was a lot of fog in areas. When we could see we would stop and take pictures. It was cold too. In the fog it was about 57 when the sun shined it was about 60-62. I had to pull out my sweatshirt, that is when I noticed I had left my jacket in the hotel last night. I just called them to see if they could ship it to me and when she said she had to check with house keeping and call me in the morning I got a little worried. We drove across the Golden Gate bridge, tried to take pictures but the fog again got in the way. I will try again tomorrow.

LA tour

Hi everyone!
We enjoyed a 5.5 hour tour of LA today. We first toured the homes of the stars. We took pictures of the homes of  people we know but I don't think we can remember who's house is who's. Where Michael Jackson passed away they have wreaths out and a guard there 24 hours a day. We saw where The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was filmed and the Beverly Hillbillies. I will remember Dr. Phil's  home as it had a lot of flowers around it and they were delivering more when we passed by.
Then we went to Paramount Studio. That was very interesting. We were able to sit in the new Jeopardy set. They were just finishing it up. Then down the walk of fame, and a walking tour around LA. Nice day for the tour the high was around 80.
We drove to Bakersfield about an hour from Sequoia NP. We arrived early about 7:30 so we could do some laundry. The temp is warmer here. The pool looked so inviting. I asked Gary if he would like to go swimming while we waited on the laundry and it sounded great to him. That is when  I discovered I didn't pack a suite  or sent it back with those "extra" items we brought. So we didn't get at chance to enjoy the pool but it did give me an excuse to do some shopping.
Tomorrow we will be heading to Sequoia. We are both looking forward to that.
See ya, keep the comments coming.

Back In LA

So things don't always turn out as planned. We were going to take the tour yesterday but without having the ability to print the ticket I had to go to Hollywood Blvd to buy them. It took a while to find the place and the address she gave us was the wrong one. So by the time we bought them it was too late so we are going tomorrow(Friday). We then drove to Death Valley. It is a little bit from here and I think we took a wrong turn because we ended up on a dirt road and didn't see another car for miles. Once we arrived we expected a little western town or something. The only thing there is a visitor center who sent us in the right direction to get the best views. The high was 122 and you sure knew it when you opened the car door. We did climb a small mountain to take a picture, and that was the longest we were out of the car. By the time we were ready to leave it was too late to head to the National Park or LA. We found a small town and stayed the night. We slept late and drove back here. We walked down Hollywood Blvd to the Kodak Theatre area and boy is that a happening place. Lots of tourists and people dressed up as movie stars. There were 2 Michael Jacksons as a boy, spider man and some monster people. Did some window shopping, thought I could use a sweater since it was cool tonight. Went into one store and found one that was nice nothing fancy,$140.00! I decided I really didn't need one after all.

Los Angeles wild animal park

Today we went to the second half of our zoo package. It was in a different location and has as the name states "wild animals". They didn't look to wild to me but what do I know? It was warm or actually hot. Much warmer than yesterday. I thought when we we got back to the car it would be over 100 but it said 94.

Looks like we have a plan for California. There is a lot to do here. Tomorrow LA where we will take a 5 hour tour. Then to Death Valley, Sequoia National Park, back to LA to take US1 to San Francisco. Yosemite  National Park is next, then Reno and  Portland Oregon to visit my sister. If it sounds like I have family all over the states remember I came from a large family. From Cheryl's we are going to Yellowstone National Park, Badlands, Mount Rushmore then after that we will look at the map again.
Hope all is well back home. I talk to the boys once in awhile for updates.

San Diego Zoo

We spent today at the zoo. The weather was great not too hot. Not too much to say about it. We walked, took a tour and a airlift. We have a two day pass. Tomorrow is the wild animal park.

Ok no more pictures today. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. It is about 12:30 here and I need to get my rest for the big day tomorrow. Gary is already sound asleep.

good night.

Look here. I was able to post a picture!

Time at JR and Nancy's

We had a great time at Jr and Nancy's. I wanted to post more photos put things just are not working right. We are at the same place we were last night so I am blaming this problem on the location.
