Fun filled day at Royal Gorge

We sure had a fun day today. We made an reservation to take the train into the gorge with lunch. The view was beautiful. We were in the dome car with the glass window going all the way to the top. The next car over was an open car so after lunch we went outside and the view had a whole new meaning. We really enjoyed that trip.
We rode the train along the Arkansas River and went under the worlds highest suspension bridge. The bridge is a quarter mile long and 1053 feet above the river.
We ate with a couple from Oklahoma City who recommended we take the sky line drive. So we did. That too had a beautiful view but the drive up was on a one way road big enough for only one car. There was a drop off on both sides. I tried to enjoy the ride but I was scared to death. Gary said he wasn't very comfortable with the drive either. I don't know if he took his eyes off the road to see the view. But we made it down fine.
Then we took a scenic route back to Colorado Springs to be close to Pikes Peak for tomorrow and went through Cripple Creek. Beautiful town with almost every building having a casino hotel. The town looked like a small quaint place but at closer look I saw the words casino on all the awnings.  Then we drove a long way on a dirt road which meant the car needed a wash before we found a room ;)
So we should be in Colorado a couple more days because Aspen is next on the list then we are heading to the Grand Canyon.
