What at day, We went to Carlsbad Caverns today. We took a walking self tour that took an hour. We had to give Gary plenty of pain medicine before we left. He did fine. Then we took a guided tour. Again very interesting. Gary was there when he was a child with his family and he remembered the lights were turned off and how dark it was. Well, they are still doing that today. They didn't keep them off too long because there was a child there that was scared of creepy crawling things.
As dusk there are millions of bats that fly out and we wanted to watch that. We had about an hour to kill. Gary bought me some earrings and I wanted to take them to the car. As soon as we started walking to the parking lot it started pouring! We ran to the car and it wouldn't unlock. We tried using the button manually before Gary remembered to take the button apart and there was a key. Once we got in the car it would not start. It was dead. I tried to call onstar but I could not get a signal so we had to run back through the rain to the visitor center to use a phone. Well there were no garages to send out a truck to a lock smith came out and gave us a jump.. Just in time to go watch the bats!
All's well that ends well.
I think I can upload the pictures now. ;)
